BOOKIE Fred Done is still smiling - 10 days after paying out £50,000 on
Manchester United winning the Championship.
Mystic Fred thought the title race was Done and dusted - and he hasn't changed his mind despite United's recent blip.
Fred said: "My crystal ball never lies, I'm not worried at all. I'm offering 8-1 on Arsenal and if Arsene Wenger wants to give me a call I'll put my neck on the line and give him 9-1."
If disaster strikes and United are pipped, Fred must fork out at least another £40,000.
Fred, 53, runs 115 shops in the north of England and Wales. He was so delighted with United's win at Chelsea two weeks ago he decided not to wait until the end of the season to honour his wagers.
He said: "When we beat Chelsea I thought 'that's it, let's get the punters paid'. I've seen nothing since to change my mind."
Since then United have lost at Sheffield Wednesday and drawn at West Ham.
Tomorrow they entertain Arsenal in a potential title decider. by The Sun 13/03/1998 BACK TO TOP ^ |
