BETFRED’S “Queen of Poker” Lynne Beaumont is going all out to defend her title when this year’s Ladies Poker Tour gets underway in her home town of Newcastle.
The Betfred Ladies Poker Tour 2008 kicks off at the Aspers Casino on April 19, and Lynne is determined to try and hang on to the title she won in terrific style last year.
“Aspers is my local casino, and I am really looking forward to starting off the defence of my title in my home town,” said Lynne, of Whitely Bay. “Winning the innaugral running of the Betfred competition last year has enabled me to take part in a lot more tournaments and develop my game to take it to a new level.
“I could not have done this without the £20,000 sponsorship package I received as part of my winning prize, and I will be travelling all over the country to take part in this year’s contests in a bid to make this year’s final table and hopefully retain my title.”
Lynne, who recently took advantage of the leap year and got engaged to her partner and professional poker James Browning, is also looking forward to a trip to Las Vegas in a couple of months time to take part in the ladies World Series of Poker event.
