MICHELLE Bennett is planning a trip of a lifetime after winning the first leg of this year's Betfred Ladies Poker Tour.
She secured first place with a terrific display at Newcastle's Aspers Casino on Sunday, April 20, and has promised to pay for a holiday to Vegas with her husband Ian with her £1,530 winnings.
Michelle, from Huddersfield, who works as a debtor manager for Kirklees Council, could not hide her delight after triumphing over Aspers regular Elizabeth Costa in a head-up which lasted just a couple of hands.
"It's fantastic to finally win having come so close on a couple of occasions last year," she said. "The tournament has been amazing, and the atmosphere was great. I can't wait to play in the next event at Liverpool, but in the meantime I will be booking a holiday in Vegas for myself and Ian with tonight's winnings! It really is a dream come true."
The winner of the first event last year, and another huge supporter of the Betfred Tour, Susan Adams was the first to leave the final table in 10th.
"It was great to be taking part again, and it was an ideal warm-up for Liverpool!" she said.
Defending champion Lynne Beaumont, played an aggressive game for most of the day but the cards did not quite run for her and eventually bowed out in sixth place.
Betfred's Poker Manager Adam Vella hailed the first leg of this year's tour a "great Success".
"It was a super start, and everyone is now really looking forward to the next event in Liverpool in a month's time. Michelle was a very worthy winner of what proved to be a terrific final."
